Soldiers and Trees : Free Photos 4 Soldiers at Fort Bliss TX

This picture is from the Parker family Session.

Most soldiers believe that they should not smile in a photo taken while in a military uniform but Boys and Soldiers love trees!

One of the most common things I hear soldiers and their families say about El Paso is, “There’s no grass in El Paso. There’s no trees.”

My first thought is always, “There’s lots of grass and trees in El Paso TX. Even on Fort Bliss. Heck, there’s even water. You just have to know where to look.”

One of the most popular places is Memorial Park on Copper Street. There’s grass, trees, and a stone bridge. Right across the street, there a set of railroad tracks, making this park so versatile for photographing families!

Not Operation Love Reunited ( OpLove )

Not Operation Love Reunited ( OpLove )

Even though our programs are similar, I just wanted to take a moment to explain that I am not affiliated with Operation Love ReUnited.

They have a good program for soldiers and I was an Operation Love Reunited photographer for awhile. My program is based on their concept but I had some issues with their policies.

First, I don’t require orders. When you book a session through Free Photos 4 Soldiers, I will not ask you to provide orders. I trust you and in most cases, because of my connections with most Army units on Fort Bliss, TX , I know if your unit is deploying. But if you feel the need to book more than one FREE session and are able to convince your soldiers to put on their uniform for a photography session more than once, you probably really need the pictures or you were really unhappy with the service a photographer provided you.

Second, I allow you to buy pictures after your initial session if you choose to. You are never under any obligation to purchase anything but I think you should have the option if you want to. Because OpLove is a charitable organization, it limits it’s photographers as far as selling additional products once your photo session is complete. It’s difficult for photographers in a military community as large as Fort Bliss, TX to provide free photography services to so many deploying soldiers without the ability to cover costs through potential sales.

I hope this post clarifies some common questions that you might have!

Bataan Death March

As a photographer I LOVE Photographing soldiers – the events they participate in, their families and children.

Tomorrow, 24 March and Sunday, the 25th of March, I will be at White Sands Missile Range taking pictures at the Bataan Death March.

If you or a loved one will be marching in honor of these special veterans and would like to have your portrait created (and perhaps a news article sent to your home town), please send a text to (915) 820-8716 so we can set up a time and location to meet up during the Bataan Death March.

Stay tuned for pictures!

Workin’ Out

I’ve spent this past 2 and a half weeks on my annual training working to photograph events for 5th Armored Brigade.

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to convince Master Sergeant Sargent to pose for me while lifting weights at our gym located in the basement of Bldg 1001.

This Sunday I am attending the Bataan Death March as the Brigade Photographer so stay tuned for more great photos of our soldiers!

The Storm Family

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Kathryn and her husband, Sgt  Storm for their pre-deployment session at Memorial Park, here in El Paso.

They have been married for four years and this is SGT Storm’s second deployment.

He will be leaving for Afghanistan near the end of February.

Kathryn plans on studying cosmetology while he is away!

I can’t wait to meet them again on Monday to show them their images!
